"April Flower"
April Painting Challenge #8
Today's painting challenge was at the first class of a painting course and the end result was much learning and wiping the painting off! So...back to play time. It was finally sunny and warm today which is why I thought of doing an imagined April flower. This is a mixed media painting (ink, acrylic and pen) on a tile. I look forward to putting a clear glaze on it to make the colours really sparkle!

Sicamous, B.C. Annual Art Walk
"Sue's Hydrangea"
16" x 20" Oil on panel
These two paintings are in the Eagle Valley Manor from April until September. If you are in Sicamous, B.C. most of the local businesses have maps with a list of all the art all around town that you can go enjoy at your leisure. It will be fun to do a "walk about" and check out the businesses and find your favorite paintings! It is fun to map read and find the treasure, something free to do as a family on a nonbeach day.

"Red Delight"
Oil on board 14" x 11
This is a picture of the still life set up and my finished painting. I really enjoyed this one with all the different reds as well as lots of colour mingling in the background. The vase was a challenge.Wednesday, April 24, 2013
Sicamous, B.C. Art Walk 2013
The BC Arts and Culture Week (April 21-27) is the start of the annual Art Walk presented by the Eagle Valley Brush and Palette Club in Sicamous, B.C. The free Art Walk runs from April until September with members paintings in various businesses. There are brochures with maps in each business and you can walk around town and look at the art. The two paintings below are in the Eagle Valley Manor along with 3 others I will post later.
It is a fun day to go from place to place, especially if it is not a warm lake day!

Sue's Hydrangea
The picture above shows the Hydrangea on the window sill and the painting I had just completed. I went to stay at Sue and Ross's cabin in Chase, B.C. for a well needed break from all the work in Sicamous. After my overnight stay of being totally spoiled, I took a sampling of some of the beautiful flowers in Sue's garden. The poor flower had wilted in the sun by the time I finished, but I love the end result....restful and full of life.

MRU Library Art Gallery - Winter 2012
This painting is now in the Mount Royal Library Art Gallery for the winter display. I had it in my office and really enjoyed the variety of colours. It is a watercolour and acrylic painting painted in a watercolour style. I love the bright red Anthurium with the muted leaves behind. I looked at the Anturium on line and made up the rest around them. It is painted on a full size water colour sheet and double matted in a dark brown wood frame.

Solitaire with Blue
Solitary Blue
Oil on hard board 8" x 6"

This is another painting done from my Creative Path friend Deb's photograph. I love the flowing feeling and the flower petals trying to hang on at the end of it's season. I painted this one in more lively colours which is more of how I like to paint. It is so fun being able to create my own reality in colour!

Happy New Year!
I leant my camera out on Dec 26 and just got it back so can happily post again. This picture is of flowers I have painted before. The flower picture was taken after the first frost by Deb in her backyard. She brought it as our Creative Path paint challenge and we all loved our finished pictures. I chose a different layout and used 3 flowers instead of the 1.5 last time. Permanent Green Light was used as an under painting and duller colours were used to depict the flowers. This was going to be the end of the year posting, so fitting. I enjoyed painting this one as much as the first and look forward to trying it many different ways.

End of the Season
This painting was done as a painting challenge with my Creative Path art group. Deb sent us this picture taken from her garden and we were to paint it in any medium and any size. Oil and water colour were the choices that day. I am really happy with this one and it was extremely fun and freeing to paint. I also enjoyed painting something small. I think I will put this one on a plate stand and enjoy it unframed.
