Ontario Cottage Country 2

Another reference photo from Denise of the area around their cottage in Ontario. I pumped up the colour but really liked the shapes of the trees, especially the stand alone funky tree.

Heading West

This painting is a view of the fertile Canadian prairie with the Rocky Mountains in the background. It was painted from a photo Doug let me use in class.

Ontario Cottage Country 1

My friend Denise gave me some photos of the area around their cabin in Ontario. The Canadian Shield rocks are so different from what we have in Alberta or B.C. and interesting to paint. The meandering creek had very interesting reflections and colours. Of course the fall colours were fun to paint and enhance.

Sun Seekers - A Valentine's bouquet

A wild bouquet for you on Valentine's Day. This is from a photo reference that Helena took and posted on Facebook. She has kindly allowed me to paint any of hers (how generous is that!) and she takes photos that really peak my interest. I love that the flowers are in different stages of their life and not all cookie cutter.

Casa Corazon

I painted this from a photo I took in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico in the historical center or centro of town. The walls are very colourful and have certain colours that are used in the historical centro, making it very appealing to the eye and textural. I loved walking around with my camera close at hand, there is just something about doors that is intriguing!

Winter Sky

This is painted from a reference photo but it could of been painted outdoors as this is what our landscape looks like right now. We have had the Chinook winds that have taken most of our snow away and left the ground very brown with bits of old snow.
