Flowering In The Sun

"Flowering In The Sun"
Oil on board   20" x 18"
# 20020117

There was so much I liked about my reference photo, firstly being the memories of a cycle trip in Spain. I loved how the balconies were decorated with flower pots. They softened the rock and plaster buildings' look especially in the old town centers.

Farmer's Castle

This painting is based on a photo and the experience of biking through back roads in Spain in May. The countryside was quiet, peaceful and absolutely stunning!

Sun Glow - pastel painting

"Sun Glow"
12 " x 11 pastel on yellow archival mat board
$200 double matted in silver metal frame #20015716

Part of my summer goal was to enter into every category that I could in the Armstrong Spullumcheen Ribbon Show in Armstrong, B.C.. There are a possible 8 categories and pastel is one of them. Betty lent me her pastels and after perusing articles on painting with pastel and photos of the Spanish country side from a recent trip I set to work while painting at the Red Barn with the Brush and Palette Club. I was happy with this bright and cheery painting. The show continues until August 6.

Mid Afternoon, Girona Spain

Mid Afternoon, Girona Spain
20"x 16"
Oil on canvas board

Finally found my happy place painting again. Life has been so messy and busy for the last couple of months. My last paint out with Deb (previous post) renewed my spirit but I had not painted since. This painting is of a photo we took in Girona Spain last year during a very happy holiday. I have included the photo below but this painting is more a reflection of things going on in my life right now, bright and dark.
