Happy Urban Space

"Happy Urban Space"
8" x 10" oil on canvas panel
#20106117

I wish I could of painted this en plein aire (on location) but loved the sunny feel of it against a very dreary building background. The planter looked unkempt and wild growing but still bursting with colour.  "Grow where You are Planted" seemed like a metaphor for my art journey.

Spring Mix In Blue

"Spring Mix in Blue"
10" x 8"
Oil on canvas board
#20014917

The reference for this painting was taken and shared by Teri Sanders in an online course I was enrolled in. Teri graciously shared photographs for others in the class to paint and I loved this one.

The pot reminded me of a white enamel coffee pot my Grandmother had (chipped and well worn) and now my sister cherishes.

Fleurs de Feathers

"Fleurs de Feathers"
Acrylic and paper on canvas   10" x 8"
Framed    #20015717

Lois Mollard came from Armstrong to the Eagle Valley Brush and Palette Club to show us how to build up an acrylic painting using acrylic based pastes. I had a lot of fun trying the pastes after painting a very vibrant under painting then using pastes on top for a background texture. I also incorporated paper collage. It was very strange painting over the rough texture but I liked the effect.

Dreama's Online Class - Week 6

Week 6 "Blue Shutters and Blooming Friends"
12" x 9" Oil on board
#20028617

I really enjoyed painting this class. It was a challenge to fit in all the elements in this painting (hard building, stone, clay pot as well as the soft foliage and flowers). I have never painted shutters doors before so that too was interesting. This painting will be a door prize at the Eagle Valley Brush and Palette 38th Annual Art Show from June 28 until July 4 at the Red Barn Arts Centre in Sicamous, B.C. Stop by and meet some wonderful artists, enjoy the art and of course fill in a free ballot.
