Isabel's thank you gift

This is a painting of the building that Leslie and Carl are renting (top floor). I try to bring a frame to places we go/rent in case I have the time to paint a small picture to leave as a thank you gift.

I had made a sketch from the end of the pool in my sketch book and enjoyed it enough to do another one using real water colour paper and my water colour pencils to paint the same picture. Her building is painted the red/orange and yellow.

Isobel's family owns the building and she looks after the business and lives on the second floor. She was both gracious and generous allowing us to stay with Leslie and Carl from Dec 25 until Dec 30. She was happy with her gift and enjoyed showing it to her family members arriving for New Years.

Mi Casa Es Tu Casa

Mi Casa Es Tu Casa
9" x 12" Oil painting on canvas paper
A framed gift

At our first pickle ball excursion we met Bill who gave us a ride to his place, offered us a cold drink and soft chair stating "Mi casa es tu casa". We went to watch the Stampeder/Lion semi-final football game at his house which turned into a party. Bill went back to the USA for a few days but offered up his home to us to so we were able to watch the Stampeder/Edmonton game. His friendship was a gift and I wanted to honour that with a painting of his "casa".

Phoenix Rocks! 3

These are the last of the thank you gifts hidden outside in the front and back yard as well as the bowl of "flavoured jelly beans" in the bedroom by the candy machine. It was certainly fun looking for and painting rocks. As it was over the Christmas vacation, Phoenix was very quiet and I enjoyed being outside painting these.

Phoenix Rocks 2

This is the second set of rocks painted as a thank you gift left out in Joan and Ross' Phoenix home over the Christmas holiday. I was absolutely delighted to find the rock shaped like an iguana's head. They had dried cactus "driftwood" by their fountain so I just added the head to make this garden monster.

Phoenix Rocks 1

These are rocks that I painted and left as a thank you gift for our friends Joan and Ross. We enjoyed a warm week in Phoenix over Christmas while we waited to celebrate later with our kids as they were both working.
