"Goliath 1" A dog portrait

This is Mindi and Dave's very elderly dog Goliath. He is a very large and lovable dog that has been a best friend to Mindi and Dave. I tried to capture his "elderly age and resting stage" that he is currently in.

I painted 10 pet and animal portraits/pictures as my entry to be juried into the Federation of Canadian Artists and was accepted. This painting is one of the 10 I had to show for jurying. I had tried once before but had paintings in all different mediums and subjects and was not accepted. I am now an Active Member with the FCA (as of February 2014)!!

"Loves's Gift"

I painted this on a very cold winter day, definitely an indoor day! The sun was shining so I put this gift of flowers in the sunshine and painted with warm colours.

"Big Cat Eye" A water colour lesson

Dianna Bowles taught the Eagle Valley Brush and Palette Club how to paint animal eyes in water colour. I was fortunate enough to be in Sicamous B.C. and felt the love of like minded friends at the Red Barn ready to tackle something new in painting.

I haven't painted in water colour for quite a while and really enjoyed playing with it without putting the pressure of a finished painting. Some people were working small and trying to finish a full painting. I was more interested in learning just the eye and of course visiting with everyone. I was quite delighted how it looked when Betty put it in a mat to view it as finished.

Sol Sol! Caliente!

"Sol! Sol, Caliente!"
9" x 12" Framed Oil on canvas board
NFS (a gift)

I saw a photo of my sister-in-law Marg that my brother Ken had taken of Marg soaking up the beautiful sunsets that they enjoyed every evening while in Mexico. I could just feel the peacefulness radiating that I had to try to capture that in paint. The painting below is of my brother enjoying the sunsets as well from a picture Marg had taken. This set of paintings have already been given to them as gifts. I am hoping you can feel the warmth and enjoyment!

"Buddy 2" A Dog Portrait

This is a portrait of my Mom's dog Buddy painted in acrylic. He loved to run around and around my Mom's recreation room and I wanted to capture that sense of movement and fun. I originally painted Buddy in water colour as my very first pet portrait for a gift to my Mom (click here). A second gift is coming your way Mom!  XX 00

Inka Gala Event March 8, 2014 in Calgary

On March 8th, 2014, Kimmapii Kids will hold the first annual Inka Gala event in Calgary, to raise funds to continue delivering satchels of school supplies, hope and possibility to the children in the rural Peru. This will be a fun event celebrating the culture of Peru and the wonder of the Inka culture. We will have Peruvian food, beverages, music, a multimedia presentation, a silent auction (my painting and 6 gift cards are in the silent auction), and a Peruvian marketplace with unique Peruvian items for purchase. All supplies are bought in Peru so it helps buying local and our dollar goes so much further!
For more information on Kimmapii Kids, please visit: www.kimmapiikids.org

"Screen Time"

"Screen Time"
8" x 10" Oil on board
$75
I painted this in response to how much time I was spending in front of the TV enjoying the 2014 Winter Olympics. I have been painting dogs and this just fit in. My inspiration came from a photo of a dog clock my sister Shannon sent to me. The photo also struck my funny bone (sorry I also enjoy puns!).

Bronte 2 - A pet portrait

"Bronte 2"    SOLD
8" x 8"
Acrylic on Canvas
This is the second portrait I have done of Bronte. She is so expressive and full of loving character, she is a joy to paint. Every year my friend Joan takes a picture of Bronte by the Christmas tree and sends it out as an e-card to spread Christmas cheer. With my artistic license in hand, I play with colours and discard the Christmas tree. You can tell how impressed she was of this event...trusting but weary.

"Toast to Maui Sunset #2"

This version is with "unrealistic" colours and of course a lot of colour. It was fun to go through the colour wheel deciding what I would like to do (love the artistic license!). I also chose a larger format this time to give me more freedom to play with the colours.

Phoenix Rocks! 3

These are the last of the thank you gifts hidden outside in the front and back yard as well as the bowl of "flavoured jelly beans" in the bedroom by the candy machine. It was certainly fun looking for and painting rocks. As it was over the Christmas vacation, Phoenix was very quiet and I enjoyed being outside painting these.
